When should I send out my wedding invitations? This is probably the second most asked question I get from clients, the first one being how much will this cost?
The timeline question is an easy one to answer and the cost is really dependent on what the client wants to see from their invitations and how many guests we need to send it to!
There are a few things you absolutely need to know before getting started on invitations:
- The date of the wedding
- The location of the wedding
- Approximately how many guests you will be inviting
Everything else can be adjusted as needed.
Here's a general guideline to invitations and when you should get started. Dates below are from The Big Day!
- 8-12 months - Order/Plan/Prep Save the Dates
- 8-10 months -Finalize guest list and mail Save the Dates
- 6-8 months - Order Invitation Suites and Shower Invitations
- 4-6 months - Mail invitations
- 6-8 weeks - Order day of stationery and thank you notes
- 1-3 weeks later - Write/Send Thank You Notes
- First Holiday After Wedding - Send Newlywed Holiday Cards
If you don't want to send Save the Dates - you don't have to! Just shift the timeline!
